Goals
Students who have just started the Agricultural Engineering and Irrigation Department of the Faculty of Agriculture are to give basic concepts about the plant world and to provide understanding of these concepts and subjects.
Content
Biology and vitality; Lower branches of botanical science; Classification and naming of plants; Chemical structure of plants and inorganic compounds; Organic compounds (carbohydrates, fats, proteins, nucleic acids, secondary metabolites); General properties of prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells; Cell wall and its function; Cell membrane and function; Cell organelles; Cell division; Vegetative tissues (meristematic tissues, permanent tissues); Morphological and anatomical structure of plant organs; Growth-development and movement events in plants; Basic concepts related to plant genetics. Practice: General laboratory rules; Microscope and its use; Plant cells and plastids; Cytoplasmic movements; Ergastic materials; Mitosis-meiosis division; Plant tissues; Root, stem and leaf anatomy and morphology; Flower, fruit and seed morphology.
