The purpose of this course is to intorduce the subjects of physics, to provide basic information about units and measurement, to introduce the concepts of displacement, velocity and acceleration, to introduce the concepts of force and mass and then Newtons laws of motion to the first year students who have not necessarily taken any physics courses before and who are only be able to make simple algebraic calculations, and finally to make them gain the methodology of problem solving on the subjects just mentioned.
The subjects of physics, units, measurement; vectors and vector operations, unit vectors, scaler multiplication. motion in one dimension, displacement, average velocity and acceleration, instantaneous velocity and acceleration, motion with contstant acceleration, freely falling objects, motion in two dimensions, motion with constant acceleration, projectile motion, uniform circular motion, the force concept, mass and Newtons laws of motion, free body diagram, friction forces, application of Newtons laws.
