Goals
To acquire knowledge on the protection and maintanence of physical, psychological and social health of a mother, a child anf family.
Content
The conditions of mothers and children in Turkey and the world; the concept of healthy family, the concept of domestic violence, anatomy and physiology of female reproductive system; impregnation, embryo, the growth of fetus, some disorders and emergency situations during pregnancy, risky conditions during pregnancy (hypertension, diabetics, heart diseases), infections and medication during pregnancy, diet during pregnancy; physiological features of a new-born, infections at childhood, vaccines, accidents, emergency situations and first aid.

Learning Outcomes
1) Understands the importance of nutrition for the health of mother and child
2) Meets energy and nutrient requirements of pregnant and lactating mothers on the health of both mother and baby understand their effects.
3) Makes the daily menu planning appropriate for adults, pregnant women, and lactating women to meet energy and nutrient requirements
4) Children aged 0-6 years to meet energy and nutrient requirements makes the daily menu planning.
5) Knows, correct methods of foods preparation, cooking and storage.
6) Defines basic concepts and principles of nutrition.
