Course Goal

To have knowledge about Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Remote sensing, applications of GIS in the field of environmental engineering.

Course Content

Information, data, coordinate systems and map information, historical development of GIS, definition of geographic information systems, functions of GIS, advantages and disadvantages of GIS, components of GIS, non-spatial information systems, data processing, spatial information systems, data collection techniques in GIS, geographic data structure , properties, graphical and non-graphical data, database management in GIS, location analysis in GIS, GIS applications, remote sensing, environmental, urban and infrastructure information system applications.
