Course Goal

To introduce students to the basic concepts of power systems analysis, to gain the ability to analyze short circuits.

Course Content

Basic structure of electrical power systems. Representation of electrical power systems. Symmetrical components. Electrical characteristics of generators, transformers, transmission lines and cables. Use of per-unit system in power network calculations. Current and voltage relations in short, medium and long transmission lines. Symmetrical and asymmetrical fault calculations.
