Course Goal

To teach the fundamentals of high voltage (HV) equipments, substations, the generation and measurement methods of HV, theory of electrical breakdown.

Course Content

AC and DC transmission systems, standards related to high voltages, high voltage equipments, Recognition of Design Criterions of High Voltage Substations and Distribution Systems and Ability to Design High Voltage Substations and Distribution Systems in Basic Level; Generation of High Voltages; Measurement of High Voltages; Electrical Breakdown in Gasses, Liquids and Solids, Switchgears, breakdown Strength of Insulating Materials, Corona, Insulation, Electrode Systems, High Voltage Testing of Electrical Equipments, Transients in Power Systems and Insulation Coordination, Per unit calculations, Symmetrical components, transmission line parameters, Relay Coordination, Over voltages and Voltage Surge, Short Circuit Calculations
