Course Goal

The main objective of the course is to teach the operation of robotic structures used in surgery, surgical methods and basic design criteria with various applications.

Course Content

Introduction to surgical robotics. Minimally invasive surgery, laparoscopic surgery and microsurgery. Robot structures used in surgery. Tele-operation in robots. Coordinate frame mapping and information registration. Image transformations for frame matching. Image transfer and tracking systems. Kinematic analysis of surgical robots. Dynamic analysis of surgical robots . Actuators and sensors for surgical purposes. Tactile sensation and force sensing feedback. Analysis of end effector structures in surgical robots. Force and position control in robots.
