General Information

Çukurova University, Automotive Engineering Undergraduate Program has been established within Department of Mechanical Engineering in 2008 in order to meet the requirements of trained technical staff in the sector, with 31 students, one with a first rank holder in high school, the program started education in the 2008-2009 academic year. Department of Automotive Engineering established officially by the letter of High Education Council dated 14.12.2012. Students in this program are to be good at at least one foreign language in advanced level and will be capable of designing new cars within international R&D activities. It is aimed to get our students ready for the sector as soon as they graduate. Required hands-on training application field and laboratory supplies have been provided by Temsa Global Inc. Thanks to established cooperation which represents the finest example of University-Industry collaboration. Master´s Degree Program proceeds successfully and PhD program will be established after MSc students complete their education. Lecturers from Department of Mechanical Engineering, Electric-Electronic Engineering and Industry Engineering and MSc, PhD degree experienced staff from Temsa Global Inc. also contribute this for successful training and education. Thus, applied courses are provided by experts, experiences persons with practice background. The education language in Çukurova University, Department of Automotive Engineering is English.

Feature & Definition

During the four-year undergraduate education, the students who are subject to the program prepared by the opinions of our stakeholders are graduated in the hardware required by the industry. With the ERASMUS program, one or two semesters have the chance to continue their education in Europe. Students also have the opportunity to transform the theoretical knowledge they learn into practice in our laboratories.

Goals

To train graduate students in the field of automotive engineering who have the necessary information and skills, able to take action on international level, use the information and skills for human benefits, have the ethical responsibility, able to contribute development of the science and technology in our country and the world by performing applied researches, able to provide new visions to automotive sector in our country and the region, innovative, researcher, have the R&D skills, adaptable to teamwork, acquires the analytical thinking, bachelor, MSc and PhD students.

Objectives

To train graduates with knowledge and skills required by Automotive engineering profession, who will take active roles in the international level, using this knowledge and skills for the benefit of humanity, with professional and ethical responsibility, to contribute to development of science and technology in the country and spread around the world by basic and applied researches carried out.

Specific Admission Requirements

Placement through a centralized national university placement examination (ÖSYS). Student Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM) is responsible to place students according to their ÖSYS scores.

Qualification Awarded

The students who have successfully accomplished this program gain the bachelor´s degree of Automotive Engineering.

Qualification Requirements of Graduation

To be successful in this program, students are required to successfully complete all the courses to meet a minimum of 240 ECTS credit requirement and have a minimum of GPA of 2.00/4.00.

Access to Further Studies

The graduates of this program are eligible to apply for admission to graduate studies in same field or related areas if they pass the evaluation process designated according to the regulations of "Çukurova University Graduate Education and Examination Committee", which includes ALES, general point of average, and the interview.

Internship

Automotive engineering students conduct their internship at last session of programme during the first or second term.

Employment Opportunities

Working areas of Automotive Engineers are quite wide since automotive key industry and side industry have become the largest sector in our country. Besides well-trained engineers who have good knowledge of a foreign language will be greatly demanded by international automotive industrialists Graduates will be employed in authorized and private services widespread in all parts of our country being responsible for services as well as automotive key and side industry organizations. Automotive Engineers will take responsibility at all parts of the automotive industry. Most of its graduates will be employed by Temsa Global Industry and Trade Inc. and its suppliers which makes great progress and breakthrough. In addition, some of our graduates will be employed as researchers in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Automotive Teaching Departments of our Faculties and in automotive programs of Vocational Schools. This program was established upon high demand especially from automotive industrialists, it is being considered that most of our graduates would be employed by the automotive industry in our region.
