General Information

The Faculty of Pharmacy consists of the Department of Pharmacy Professional Sciences, Department of Pharmacy Technology and Department of Basic Pharmacy Sciences. The education period of the Faculty of Pharmacy which has been started with 63 students in 2016-2017 academic year is 5 years.The language of instruction is Turkish. Students must have earned at least 300 ECTS credits in order to graduate after being successful in the five year program courses. The curriculum includes theoretical courses as well as practical courses. Basic, vocational and elective courses mentioned in the program, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Basic Sciences of Pharmacy, Pharmacognosy, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Technology, Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, Radiopharmaceuticals, Pharmaceutical Botany, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Microbiology, Pharmaceutical Toxicology, Clinical Pharmacy Branches Biopharmaceuticals and Pharmacokinetics, Science Branches of Cosmetology and related departments in our university. In addition, internship trainings included in the program are provided in the pharmacy, drugstore, free pharmacy, pharmacy and various research centers and laboratories, as well as the institutions indicated in the internship guidelines, including the pharmaceutical industry, clinical pharmacy applications. Our faculty graduates graduates by taking the title of "pharmacist".

Feature & Definition

The 5-year education plan has been planned by adopting the modern pharmacy understanding as well as classical education. The program consists of theoretical and applied courses, in-field and non-field elective courses, graduation project, internship and vocational training in business. 75% of the courses are compulsory and 25% are elective. Internship and vocational training in business can be done in different institutions such as community pharmacies, hospital pharmacies, and the pharmaceutical industry. The program is carried out on a semester basis and consists of 10 semesters. While the courses in the first two years of the program are the common compulsory courses and the courses that constitute the basic information about the field, the courses in the third and fourth years are vocational science courses and are aimed at gaining knowledge, skills and competence. In the fifth year, there are vocational training, graduation project and vocational elective courses in business.

Goals

The program includes pharmacists who follow scientific innovations and research, take an active role in drug research and development processes, have good pharmacy practices, have a clinical pharmacist-social pharmacist identity, are active at every stage of public health, have a critical perspective, are questioning, solution-oriented and have high ethical values. aims to educate.

Objectives

Program's Goal: The Faculty of Pharmacy aims to be a faculty that plays an active role in scientific activities, follows developments in the global health and pharmaceutical industry, and attaches importance to ethical values, which will be exemplary with modern, drug / patient-oriented education and training.

Specific Admission Requirements

To be successful in this program, students are required to successfully complete all the courses to meet a minimum of 300 ECTS credit requirement and have a minimum of GPA of 2.00/4.00.

A Master's Degree is received at the end of the program.

Qualification Requirements of Graduation

In order to graduate from the Faculty of Pharmacy, students must complete a total of 300 ECTS credits, earn at least 25% of this total credit from elective courses, all courses, applications, graduation project courses and internships, Çukurova University Associate and Undergraduate Education-Teaching and to have a weighted grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00.

Access to Further Studies

Students who successfully complete the undergraduate education program may continue their education in their own fields or in related fields in postgraduate programs after joint evaluation of their ALES, YDS, undergraduate graduation grade-point average and written/oral interview examinations within the framework of ‘’Çukurova University Education and Training Regulation’

Internship

Internships consist of three parts: Internship I, Internship II, Internship III. Internship I consists of 20 working days and is done in a community pharmacy/hospital pharmacy/industry in the summer months following the 4th semester. After the relevant summer internship is completed with "Success", the internship of the student is evaluated with the selection of Internship I Evaluation Course in the 5th semester. Internship II consists of 30 working days and is done in a community pharmacy/hospital pharmacy/industry in the summer months following the 6th semester. After the relevant summer internship is completed with “Success”, the internship in the summer months is evaluated with the selection of the Internship II Evaluation Course in the 7th semester. Internship III consists of 30 working days and is done in a community pharmacy/hospital pharmacy/industry in the summer months following the 8th semester. After the relevant summer internship is completed with “Success”, the internship in the summer months is evaluated with the selection of the Internship III Evaluation Course in the 9th semester. Applied Course

There are no applied courses in the program. However, there are various applications in the course, with laboratory courses, practical applications, clinical courses and module courses. These courses have ECTS as a separate course independent from other courses and are evaluated by scoring within themselves.

Work Placement

Vocational trainings in the enterprise are held in the 9th and 10th semesters for a total of 40 working days. It is done in community pharmacies or hospital pharmacies, which are determined by the Adana Chamber of Pharmacists, approved by the Internship Commission, and have a pharmacist with at least five years of professional experience in Adana. Employment Opportunities

Pharmacists who graduate from Çukurova University Faculty of Pharmacy are entitled to open a community pharmacies, or may choose to work in any hospital pharmacies, in universities on education and research-related areas, in different departments of the drug and cosmetic industry, in drug warehouses, in centers for research and development, in public institutions and organizations such as the Turkish Medicine and Medical Device Agency, the Republic of Turkey Social Security Institution or the Turkish Institution of Public Health, in analysis laboratories, in drug and poison information centers, drug consultancy companies and professional organizations.
