General Information

Psychological Couseling and Guidance bachelor´s degree program consists of theoretical and practice based courses in interpersonal relationships, helping skills, individual and group counseling techniques, psychological assessment techniques, psychopathology, research methods and behavioral sciences, and one weekly half-day internship experiences at schools for two terms.

Psychological Couseling and Guidance program trains individuals who have acquired the expertise competencies required by various institutions and organizations such as education, health, social services, industry and justice institutions. The undergraduate program prepares advisor candidates to work in the school environment after graduation by giving as much space as possible to all RPD applications that can be done in schools. Through some of the courses and applications in the program, students' personal development as well as their knowledge and skills development are supported.

Goals

The purpose of Çukurova University Psychological Counseling and Guidance undergraduate program; health, especially educational institutions, which have theoretical and applied knowledge and skills in the field of guidance and psychological counseling, adhere to universal principles and professional ethics, are sensitive to human, society and changes and problems in the world, cultural differences, and are followed by scientific developments in the field, industry, justice, special education and rehabilitation etc. to train modern psychological counselors who can work in institutions. In this program, students generally; It is equipped with knowledge and skills in human development, understanding and helping people, learning and behavior change, abnormal behavior, interpersonal relations, charity skills, psychological measurement tools, research techniques and behavioral sciences. Çukurova University Guidance and Psychological Counseling Undergraduate Program; In addition to gaining scientific competencies, it aims to train "psychological counselors" who are sensitive to the environment, able to produce and serve solutions in the face of life crises, and that will carry the responsibility of being a role model to the society, and in this regard, advisor candidates are constantly developing themselves, based on universal principles and professional ethics, It has been planned in a way to ensure that they are individuals who will carry the responsibility of being.

Objectives

The aim of the Guidance and Psychological Counseling undergraduate program is to provide qualified training for the profession of psychological counseling and career counseling, especially in the field of school counseling, and to prepare its graduates for different employment areas. In order to achieve this, it is aimed that students will have knowledge and skills about human development and assistance skills, learning and behavior change, psychological measurement tools, research methods, abnormal behaviors in the field of counseling.

Specific Admission Requirements

Students are admitted to this program with the placement result document given by the Measurement Selection and Placement Center (OSYM).

Qualification Requirements of Graduation

To be successful in this program, students are required to successfully complete all the courses to meet a minimum of 240 ECTS credit requirement and have a minimum of GPA of 2.00/4.00. 

Access to Further Studies

Students who have successfully completed their undergraduate education from this program can do Postgraduate education in their own fields or related fields, provided that they get a valid grade from ALES exam and have sufficient knowledge of English in the framework of "Graduate Education and Training Regulation".

Internship

Students do internships in schools affiliated to Ministry of Education in the 7th and 8th semesters.

With the intensity of practical courses in the final year, students are prepared for professional life.

Double Major, Additional Major & Exchange Possibilities

In many departments affiliated to the Faculty of Education, there are double and minor program opportunities. Students receive a separate diploma for both situations.

Employment Opportunities

Graduates are mostly employed in educational institutions affiliated to the Ministry of National Education. In addition, graduates can be employed under the title of pedagogue in courthouses, in hospitals, in the military, in the human resources units of industrial institutions under the title of psychological counselor.
