General Information

The Department of Turkish Education aims to train teachers who have wide knowledge about the phenomenon of a language in general, of Turkish language in particular; who can express his/her emotions, thoughts, and knowledge either verbally or in writing; equipped with superior teaching skills; self-confident; successful in social relationships and who are proficient enough to help their students improve their reading, listening, speaking, writing skills and grammar knowledge.

Feature & Definition

To have know academically about description of language, basic concepts of grammar and linguistics, features of World languages, structural and historical features of Turkish language, sound and its changes, suffix and ending, word groups, sentence and its components, sentence forms and types 2 To have know academically Literature knowledge and theories, Kokturk and Uyghur, Classic, Mystic, Folk and New Literature, World literature. 3 To be well-informed and gain the necessary skills regarding the methods and tecniques in teaching the secondary school learners the Turkish language and literature and the skills of reading, listening, speaking and writing. 4 To be well informed in the essential topics in teching profession such as classroom management, testing and evaluation, educational psychology, technology and material use, teaching principles and methods, and about the laws that regulade the activities in educational institutions. 5 To be able to show that they can continue to work intepentently at a higher level. 6 To be able to make decisions buy taking responsibilities in the complex professional activity condition. 7 To be able to use Turkish education’s knowledge and To have a foreing gramer with the aim of communicating with co-worker. 8 To have the ability to use communicating tecnology, data processing, computer’s hardware and software, at the required level of Turkish education. 9 To have to look after social, scientific and ethic values stages; the addition, explication and expositon of data releated Turkish education.

Goals

The purpose of Çukurova University Education Faculty Turkish Teaching Undergraduate Program is to 1. Have the knowledge, skills and characteristics required by the teaching profession; To train Turkish teachers who have assimilated the approaches, methods and techniques of educational science. 2. To train teachers who know the rules of the Turkish language and the stages it has gone through in detail, who have knowledge about all the stages and leading names of Turkish literature and world literature. 3. To train teachers with advanced language skills who have the ability to understand, interpret and analyze Turkish in the fields of grammar and linguistics such as phonetics, morphology, vocabulary, syntax, semantics and lexicology, who can use their knowledge in this field for research and development. 4. To train teachers with advanced language awareness and language skills, who are equipped to provide secondary school children with the skills to use Turkish correctly, to understand what they read and listen to, and to express themselves verbally and in writing. 5. Good use of information and communication technologies; communicating and collaborating effectively with students and their environment; creative, critical and scientific thinking; Constantly following the innovations and developments in the field of Turkish education; giving importance to research; Our aim is to train Turkish teachers who are entrepreneurial and problem solvers, responsible and respectful to different views.

Objectives

1. Students are committed to the principles and principles of modern education; have the ability to think creatively, scientifically and critically; can keep up with technological changes and use advanced information resources related to their fields; To train teachers who can set an example for the society with their appearance, attitude and behavior. 2. To train students as teachers who are equipped with the necessary scientific and social skills and can follow the next level of education. 3. To enable Turkish teacher candidates to be innovative and to produce original solutions to the problems they encounter. 4. His students; To train teachers who have gained proficiency and ethical responsibility in their profession, have critical thinking and leadership skills in their work environment, and can provide interdisciplinary cooperation.

Specific Admission Requirements

Placement through a centralized national university placement examination (ÖSYS). Student Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM) is responsible to place students according to their ÖSYS scores.

Qualification Requirements of Graduation

In order to graduate from this program, it is necessary to have a weighted grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 and to be successful in all courses.

Access to Further Studies

The graduates of this program are eligible to apply for admission to graduate studies in same field or related areas if they pass the evaluation process designated according to the regulations of "Çukurova University Graduate Education and Examination Committee", which includes ALES, general point of average, and the interview.

Internship

The Department of Turkish Education carries out practices in cooperation with MEB schools through the faculty for the Teaching Practice I (7th Semester) and Teaching Practice II (8th Semester) courses in order to prepare prospective teachers for the profession. Until the 2016-2017 academic year, practice schools were selected within the scope of different types of schools in cooperation with our department. However, after this date, the choice of school was under the initiative of the department, and when the lists of students and instructors were to be prepared and sent to the National Education, the name of the school was not specified in an official letter by the National Education. In this framework, the selection of practice schools is made by the Ministry of National Education.

Applied Course

There are three applied courses named "Community service practices", "Teaching practice I" and "Teaching practice II".

Work Placement

Students are prepared for their professional life with the intensity of practical courses in the last year.

Double Major, Additional Major & Exchange Possibilities

In all other undergraduate programs of the Faculty of Education, double major/minor programs can be made.

Employment Opportunities

Graduates of the Turkish Teaching Program receive the “Turkish Teacher” title and they can work at state or private schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education. Our graduates also find jobs at private training centers, companies that develop and market educational materials, publishing companies, and universities for an academic career.
