Bachelor's Degree - Faculty Of Health Scıences

General Information

Dietitian education in Turkey began at Hacettepe University in 1962. Originally known as Dietetics, the program was renamed Nutrition and Dietetics in 1963. The Nutrition and Dietetics Department consists of four main branches: Nutritional Sciences, Dietetics, Catering Nutrition Systems, and Community Nutrition. The Nutrition and Dietetics Department's curriculum consists of theoretical and applied courses in accordance with the Higher Education Institution's Nutrition and Dietetics Core Education Program (CEP). The first three years consist of theoretical and applied courses designed to establish a professional foundation. In the first year, courses in basic medical sciences (anatomy, physiology, medical biology, and genetics) are offered, laying the groundwork for professionally relevant courses in subsequent years. Introductory courses also cover essential professional topics, such as ethical principles, the history of the profession, and basic application areas. In addition to the summer internship at the end of the third year, the final year includes seven weeks of practical experience, totaling at least 24 hours per week, in four different applied courses offered at different hospitals, institutions, and organizations, covering the fields of study in all four departments. To graduate, students must complete all required and elective courses in eight semesters and achieve 240 ECTS credits.
