Civil Defence and Firefighting Program started to education within Cukurova University, Ceyhan Vocational School in 2014-2015 academic year. It accepts about 55 students in each year and it is 2-year degree program.

Feature & Definition

In this program, theoretical and practical training is given at the two-year associate degree level. Search and Rescue Technician in Municipal Fire Departments, Emergency Directorates, Search and Rescue Technician in Civil Defense Search and Rescue Unit Directorates, Fire Safety Staff in Hotels and Public Institutions, Fire Technician in Airports and Ports, Fire Brigade and Fire Safety related device sales and material production companies They are trained as technical personnel, Fire Safety personnel of Organized Industry and Industrial Organizations, Occupational Safety and Occupational Health technicians.

Goals

The graduates of the program will be able to work as a rescue technician in the Municipality Firebrigades, Emergency Offices, Rescue Offices or as a firefighter in hotels, in public institutions, in airports, and ports, in industrial zones as well as a technician in companies producing and selling fire safety equipment or a technician for occupational safety and health.

Objectives

It is to be a privileged program that provides qualified intermediate personnel who can apply the requirements of the profession at the highest level with high knowledge and skill.

Specific Admission Requirements

Students are admitted to the Civil Defense and Firefighting Program with a central examination conducted by the Assessment, Selection and Placement Center (OSYM). Students are admitted to the program with TYT score type and 2-year associate degree education is given. Students who choose with their TYT score are placed in the program they prefer with the Central Placement made by OSYM according to their success ranking. Students to be admitted to the program must meet the required height and weight requirements in order to be a firefighter in the Municipal Fire Brigade Regulation.

Qualification Requirements of Graduation

Students graduate from this program by completing 120 ECTS/ECTS credits. In order to graduate, students must successfully complete all of the courses available in the program and obtain a grade point average of at least 2.0 out of 4.00. In addition, students must successfully complete their 30-day professional internship. The graduate student is awarded an associate degree in Civil Defense and Firefighting.

Access to Further Studies

The graduates will be able to continue their study in the four-year degree programs of “Social Services” with regards to vertical transfer terms.

Internship

Internship is a practical and applied education that students will do in the relevant sector. Internships will be held on the dates announced by the School Directorate, and the duration of the internship cannot be less than 30 working days depending on the nature of the program. It is appropriate to do the internship during the summer break at the end of the first year. Program students can do internships at Municipal Fire Brigades, AFAD, General Directorates of Forestry, and organizations with fire departments in the public and private sectors.

Applied Course

Within the scope of the program, there are practical courses such as Emergency Aid and Rescue, Firefighting Vehicle Material Information, Physical Education, Fire Safety, Fire Response Principles.

Work Placement

Apart from the internship, there is no job-based learning activity.
