General Information

The aim of this doctoral program is to provide students with the ability to access, evaluate and interpret information by conducting scientific research in the field of primary school mathematics education. In this context, students are expected to be able to develop a scientific method that brings innovation to the field of primary school mathematics education or to apply a known method to a different field, and to analyze, synthesize and evaluate the studies available in the literature. The doctoral program must have at least seven credit courses, with at least twenty-one credits and 30 ECTS per academic year; consists of seminar course, specialization courses, proficiency exam, thesis proposal and thesis work and cannot be less than 240 ECTS credits. At the request of the student or advisor, students can take additional courses. The seminar course is held during the course period and is not included in the credit load. Provided that at most two of the courses were not taken during the graduate education, they can also be selected from the graduate courses.

Goals

The aim of the doctoral program is to enable mathematics teachers to improve themselves in today's world where knowledge is increasing rapidly. In addition, the aim of this program is to train experts who will develop scientific knowledge in different fields of mathematics education, create solutions to problems in the field of education, and engage in scientific activities in order to increase the quality and quality of educational practices.

Specific Admission Requirements

Students in this program can continue their education in their own field or in related fields after the evaluation of ALES, undergraduate graduation GPA and interview exam together within the framework of "Çukurova University Postgraduate Education Regulations".

Qualification Requirements of Graduation

Candidates with a master's degree must register for at least 7 courses (21 local credits) and a Proficiency Exam and PhD Thesis and complete 240 ECTS credits. In order to be successful in a course in their program, they must have received at least DD grade. They are required to have a grade point average of at least 3.00 out of 4.00 from all the courses stipulated in their programs and to be successful in the Proficiency Exam and the Doctoral Thesis Defense from the non-credit courses in the curriculum.

Access to Further Studies

Graduates who successfully complete the doctoral program can apply to post-doctoral programs in their field, provided that they get a valid grade from the ALES exam and provide English language proficiency.
