General Information

Communication Studies Doctorate Program was established in 2022 with an interdisciplinary nature in order to understand, explain and analyze the ongoing communication processes and media in our daily lives. Aiming to train researchers who are experts in the field of communication, critical and ethically responsible, the program envisages studying the communication problems of our time at global, national, regional and local levels.

İletişim Çalışmaları Doktora Programı, kültürel çalışmalar, popüler kültür, siyasal iletişim, kültürlerarası iletişim, sağlık iletişimi, bilim ileitşimi, eğitim iletişimi, uluslararası iletişim, toplumsal cinsiyet çalışmaları, kültür ve kimlik, sanat ve iletişim, iletişim hukuku, iletişim etiği, iletişim psikolojisi, iletişim sosyolojisi, iletişim antropolojisi, dilbilim ve dijital medya gibi birçok başlık altında iletişimle ilgili kuramsal yaklaşımları ve bu alanlardaki araştırmaları ve çalışmaları içermektedir. Bu kapsam ise evrensel akademik ve düşünsel bilgi birikiminden yararlanarak, çağımızın iletişim sorunlarını küresel, ulusal, bölgesel ve yerel düzeylerde çalışılmasını öngörmektedir.

Goals

Not only does it closely follow international studies in the field of Communication Studies, it also aims to provide an academic environment that supports the publication of academic research and participation in international conferences, respecting ethical principles, and bringing qualified lecturers and researchers to the field.

Objectives

The objectives of the Communication Studies PhD program are, • Humanitarian and social sciences focused, cultural discourse and practices, technological infrastructures and economic-political approaches with theoretical and methodological equipment for the field of media; • Aware of the importance of critical thinking and ethical responsibility and able to act accordingly; • Able to contribute to new approaches and discussions in the sub-fields of communication (health communication, intercultural communication, international communication, educational communication, scientific communication, communication ethics, communication law and new media) in line with the interdisciplinary nature of the field; • Using their knowledge and skills, they can produce solutions to problems related to communication and media, develop policy proposals and turn them into projects and activities; • To give graduates who can make academic publications in a clear way to transfer the acquired knowledge to others.

Specific Admission Requirements

Students to this program "Ç.Ü. Within the framework of the “Graduate Education and Training Regulations”, ALES can continue their education in their own field or in related fields as a result of the evaluation of the undergraduate graduation GPA and the written/interview exam together.

To have successfully completed all the courses taken. Successful in the doctoral qualifying examination. Acceptance of the dissertation proposal. Writing and defending the thesis and finding the thesis defended in front of the jury successful.
