Department of Medical Imaging Techniques was established under the Cukurova University School of Health Services in 1989. Education and training began with student admissions in the 1990-1991 academic year.

Feature & Definition

Students are admitted to this program through the Higher Education Entrance Exam conducted by the ÖSYM Presidency. The language of instruction in the program is Turkish. This program aims to train technical personnel in the operation of equipment used in Radiology and Nuclear Medicine units, preparing the necessary arrangements for the requested tests from patients, and acquiring images. The program also aims to train qualified personnel with contemporary professional knowledge, skills, and behavior in the field of Radiology services, as required by physicians for the diagnosis or treatment of diseases. The theoretical and practical training of the Medical Imaging Techniques Program is conducted in the relevant units of the Radiology Department at Çukurova University Balcalı Hospital and at the Vocational School of Health Services.

Goals

The purpose of the Medical Imaging Techniques Program is to train qualified technical personnel who, during the 2-year education process, can coordinate with radiology specialists and other healthcare professionals in the field of Radiodiagnostics and Radiotherapy, which are used in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases.

Objectives

To train qualified radiology technicians who have the knowledge and skills to maintain and control devices and equipment. To train radiology technicians who have the ability to obtain images with medical imaging devices such as conventional and digital x-rays, computerized tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, PET-CT and ultrasonography by preparing the patient for examination for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases.

Specific Admission Requirements

According to the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) conducted by the OSYM Presidency, students are admitted to this program within the quota. In addition, students are accepted within the quotas announced by the international student office and the quota for horizontal transfer according to the central/general grade point average.

Qualification Awarded

Health technician title is conferred to the graduates.

Qualification Requirements of Graduation

Students must have succeeded in the courses in the program, at least 120 ECTS credits, and a GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00.

Access to Further Studies

In the case of Medical Imaging Techniques that can graduate or graduate students, DGS and the Assessment, selection and placement Center (OSYM) declared by the undergraduate programs (Nursing, Nursing and Health Services) may apply.

Internship

Mandatory summer internship is 30 working days. Internship can be done in State and University Hospitals.

Applied Course

Students practice in the Radiology Clinic of the Health Practice and Research Center of Balcalı Hospital.

Work Placement

There is no workplace training application.

Employment Opportunities

Students graduated from this program can work as "Medical Imaging Technician" in hospitals. University Hospitals, State Hospitals, Private Hospitals etc. All Hospitals are graduated from the program with the title of Health Technician by completing all the professional applications and internships in the program.
