General Information

The Department of Veterinary Pathology, which was opened in 2021 within the Institute of Health Sciences, is a program that has accepted its first students in September 2021 and has students who are already at the graduation stage. Since its establishment, the Department of Veterinary Pathology has been advancing towards raising students at the graduate level. Together with our students, studies are carried out on the planning, execution and reporting of scientific studies in the field of veterinary and public health.

Feature & Definition

Students studying in the field of veterinary pathology master's program are provided with the ability to conduct scientific research and gain skills in this regard. Practical training is provided for them to acquire knowledge and skills in collecting data on scientific studies, recording the data obtained, performing data analysis and interpreting these data. In the department, there is a microscope and a pathology application laboratory for graduate students to develop their skills in applied laboratory studies and to evaluate pathological data.

Goals

Within the scope of the master's program in veterinary pathology with thesis, it is aimed to train scientific experts who have knowledge and skills in literature review, data collection, data recording, analysis and interpretation of data and discussion in a scientific study on veterinary pathology at the master's level.

Objectives

Within the scope of this program, it is aimed to train scientific experts who can provide laboratory diagnostic services in the field of veterinary pathology at national and international level and plan to pursue an academic career.

Specific Admission Requirements

In this program, students can continue their education in their own field or in related fields as a result of the evaluation of ALES, foreign language, undergraduate grade point average, written and oral exams together within the framework of "C.U. Graduate Education and Training Regulations".

Students who successfully complete this program are awarded a Master's Degree in Veterinary Pathology with Thesis.

Qualification Requirements of Graduation

In order to graduate from this program, it is necessary to successfully complete all the courses in the program and to have a weighted grade point average of at least 3.00 out of 4.00. The program includes field courses, elective courses, a seminar course and thesis work, 30 credits per semester. A person who successfully completes the courses he has taken and successfully defends his master's thesis in front of the academic jury is entitled to receive a master's degree.

Access to Further Studies

In order to apply to the veterinary pathology doctorate program, candidates must obtain a master's degree in veterinary pathology. Students who complete this program can apply to the veterinary pathology doctoral program.

Internship

There is no internship in this program.

Applied Course

In the applied courses within the scope of veterinary pathology master's degree, sample recording, sample tracking, preparation and evaluation of tissues are carried out. The applications of the courses given within the scope of the program and the evaluation of the diseases related to the course are carried out in the laboratory environment.

Work Placement

There is no on-the-job training in this program.

Graduates can be employed in different fields. These areas are; public institution, private institution, research and consultancy companies and R&D units.
