General Information

The Econometrics Master’s with Thesis Program is a two-year program. Students take theoretical and practical lessons at the first year and then they prepare a thesis at the second year. The lessons offered include subjects from the fields of econometrics, statistics, operations research, and economics. At the end of the program, students will have a detailed scientific perspective, will do a literature search about a topic, and have a Masters of Science degree in Econometrics by writing a thesis about a topic they prefer.

Feature & Definition

In this program, students take mandatory and elective courses about econometrics, statistics, operations research, and economics in line with their personal and academic interests. Once students present a seminar, they prepare their thesis proposal about a topic of interest. The student graduates after a successful thesis defend.

Goals

The Econometrics Master’s with Thesis Program aims to equip students with the skills of econometrics, statistics and economics to employ them as decision makers in public and private sectors. It is also aimed to educate young academicians to employ in public and private universities.

Objectives

The department of econometrics targets to provide qualified workforce to the public sector and private sector.

Specific Admission Requirements

The students can apply to this program providing ALES score, grade point averages, english proficiency score and an interview in accordance with the regulations of “Çukurova University Graduate Education and Examination Committee” and can pursue their education in their or in related fields.

Qualification Awarded

Graduated students have a master's degree with thesis in econometrics and gain a title as an expert.

Qualification Requirements of Graduation

Students must not fail the compulsory and elective courses in their curriculum, provide a total of 120 AKTS, and complete the academic average requirement specified in the Çukurova University graduate regulations.

Access to Further Studies

The graduates of this program are eligible to apply for admission to obtain a PhD degree in their or related fields if they pass the evaluation process designated according to the “Regulations of Çukurova University Graduate Studies”, which includes a required ALES score and an adequate English language proficiency.

Employment Opportunities

Graduates have different opportunities to work both in public and private sector. Besides public and private sector, they can also work in the divisions of companies like research and planning thanks to the analysis skills they have obtained. Graduates have the opportunity to be employed in public corporations like Turkish Statistical Institute, Turkish Presidential Budget and Strategy Directorate, Ministry of Development, Undersecretariat of Treasury, Central Bank of Turkey, as well as in banking and finance sector and also in marketing research firms that are doing research in the fields including public and marketing research. Graduates can also work as research asistant at public and private universities.
