General Information
Founded in 2000, the aim of our program is to provide designer and artist candidates who understand the nature and versatility of ceramic material, the technology and limits of the material, and have research and application skills in art/design. Graduates of our program have the competence to know the method to be followed while accessing information, to be aware of the importance of their work, and to adapt the knowledge and skills they have acquired on a sectoral basis and according to social needs. Ceramics Program is a unit that provides four-year undergraduate education based on research, project and practice.

Feature & Definition
In the ceramics program, in addition to the classrooms where theoretical courses are taught, students are provided with the environment and opportunities to develop their knowledge and skills with spaces and equipment such as drawing, design and computer studio, industrial ceramic workshop, mud workshops, technology laboratory, ceramic kilns, lathe workshop. In addition, in our curriculum, seminars, conferences, workshops and technical trips are organized to provide students with the opportunity to share information about ceramic art and design. Students are given the opportunity to gain experience in ceramic art and industry through workshop and factory internships. Students are given the opportunity to participate in graduation exhibitions, year-end exhibitions, national and international exhibitions and competitions with their projects. Students who show outstanding success are offered the right to receive a minor and double major diploma by taking courses offered in other departments within the faculty and the opportunity to study at European universities within the framework of the Erasmus (+) student exchange program.

Goals
The aim of the department, which includes qualified academic staff and students, is to train designer and artist candidates who conduct research with an artistic and scientific approach, are open to innovations in ceramic art, design and technology, and have universal thoughts and values by providing the environment and opportunities to develop their knowledge and skills in the field.
Objectives
To develop education, research and artistic studies in cooperation with national and international institutions and organizations, to strengthen the activities of our academic staff, students and graduates on national and global platforms by preserving the original and contemporary structure of our university, which is strengthened by the unity and interaction of art, design and science branches.
Specific Admission Requirements
As announced in ÖSYM's Higher Education Institutions (YKS) and Quotas Guide, students are admitted by Special Talent Examination in line with the principles determined by the relevant unit and approved by the University Administrative Board.
Qualification Awarded
Students who successfully complete this program are awarded a bachelor's degree in “Ceramics”.

Qualification Requirements of Graduation
In order to graduate from this program, it is necessary to have at least 240 ECTS in total, including at least 30 ECTS each semester, and a GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 and to be successful in all courses.
Access to Further Studies
Students who successfully complete their undergraduate education in this program can apply to master's, doctoral programs or proficiency in art programs in related fields and continue their education.
Internship
In this program, there are Factory Internship and Workshop Internship, each of which is 20 working days and compulsory.
Applied Course
In the ceramics program, applied courses on ceramic art, technology, chemistry and design are carried out in order to master the possibilities and scope of the material in artistic and industrial production stages.
Work Placement
Workplace training is not compulsory in the program. However, our students are trained to have the necessary skills for production in the industry and private workshops by gaining knowledge in all subjects related to the field of ceramics. When they graduate, they can work as designers and freelance artists.
Double Major, Additional Major & Exchange Possibilities
For students who are successful in this program, there are Double Major / Minor Program opportunities within the scope of the “Regulation on the Principles of Transfer Between Associate and Undergraduate Programs in Higher Education Institutions, Double Major, Minor and Inter-institutional Credit Transfer”. In addition, students have the opportunity to increase their personal competencies such as academic, foreign language and general culture through the Erasmus+ exchange program.
Employment Opportunities
Our graduates can take part in factories, private institutions and workshops in the field of ceramic art and design as competent and visionary individuals with their knowledge of materials and theoretical art education. They can contribute to the sector by working in roles such as art educator, model designer, product developer, ceramic instructor. In addition, they can establish workshops as freelance artists, exhibit their works in national and international exhibitions, and take an active role in ceramic surface design and decor production in architectural projects. Thanks to the technical knowledge and creative skills they gain during their education, it is possible to make a difference in their careers by specializing in areas such as ceramic technology and ceramic art.
