General Information

The Tourism and Hotel Management Program offers a two-year education after high school education. Students are selected by the exam(s) held by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM), graduates of the relevant vocational high school and equivalent school. Approximately 45 students are admitted to the program each year. Students must take and pass each compulsory course. At the same time, students are required to provide at least 2.00 average in order to graduate. In addition, in order for the student to graduate, it is obligatory to complete an applied summer internship covering 30 working days. The language of instruction of the program is Turkish.

Feature & Definition

The aim of this program is to train students as tourism staff for front office management, housekeeping and travel agencies. It is aimed to educate srudents for middle level of management for the tourism industry. Not only do students gain theoretical experience, but practical experience as well. This programme intends to include all kinds of practical and theoretical aspects of the field of study and it aims to equip students, through theoretical and practical education, with the knowledge and skills required in lodging, catering and service, and traveling sectors to furnish students with the knowledge and skills about computer use and foreign language skills. In addition, graduates of the program may apply to bachelor programmes in related fields by entering the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS) or may apply Distance Education System

Specific Admission Requirements

Students are admitted to the Tourism and Hotel Management Program through the Central Placement Examination conducted by ÖSYM, among those who have graduated from high school or its equivalent. Candidates who get sufficient points from the TYT score type in the Central Placement Exam for the Tourism and Hotel Management Program are placed by OSYM, taking into account their preferences for higher education programs and the quota and conditions of these programs. The registration of students placed in the Tourism and Hotel Management Program is made by the student affairs unit within the framework of the calendar determined by OSYM.

Qualification Requirements of Graduation

In the Tourism and Hotel Management Associate Degree Program, taking 120 ECTS courses during the two-year education, successfully completing all the courses, with the lowest grade of DD, without FD, FF and NA grades, with a GPA of at least 2.00 and a 30-day workplace Students who do the summer internship can graduate. Students who do not meet these conditions cannot graduate. Students who are successful in the Tourism and Hotel Management Associate Degree Program receive the "Tourism and Hotel Management Associate Degree Program".

Access to Further Studies

Graduates may apply to bachelor programmes in related fields of study provided that the student obtains sufficient score in the Vertical Transfer Examination administred by yhe Student Selection Centre or may apply to bachelors degree completion programmes in related fields of study in Distance Education System.

Internship

It is a course in which the information in the practical and theoretical courses given to the students within the scope of the Tourism and Hotel Management Program is evaluated by living in the workplace applied summer internship for 30 working days in private and public enterprises and institutions related to the field of Tourism and Hotel Management, and the work experience of the students before they join the workforce.

Applied Course

Practical courses given for the profession in the program are carried out at the workplace summer internship, during technical trips to private and public enterprises, and in the computer laboratories of our school.

Work Placement

It is a process in which the information in the practical and theoretical courses given to the students within the scope of the Tourism and Hotel Management Program is experienced by living in the workplace applied summer internship for 30 working days, the work experience of the students before joining the workforce and what they can actually do are evaluated by themselves and an independent third party.

Double Major, Additional Major & Exchange Possibilities

Mevlana. Farabi and Erasmus students can experience their internship and education exchange programs at home or abroad.

Employment Opportunities

Graduates will be employed in hospitality enterprises, travel agencies, food and beverage enterprises and public institutions and organizations producing hospitality services.
