General Information

Vocational School of Technical Sciences was established in 2009 in Adana Hacı Sabancı Organized Industrial Zone (AOSB). It is one of the largest organized industrial zones on the Adana-Ceyhan D-400 Highway.in Turkey and has an area of 1225 hectares north of Yakapınar (Misis). Machinery Program within the Department of Machinery and Metal Technologies started its Mechanical Technician Education in the 2010-2011 academic year. The aim of the program is to train human resources that are needed for the industry, apply occupational health and safety instructions, and are sensitive to professional ethics and environmental rules, with the trainings they receive in the fields of materials science, manufacturing methods, computer-aided design, measurement and control. The name of "Çukurova University Technical Sciences Vocational School" has been changed to "Çukurova University Adana Organized Industrial Zone Technical Sciences Vocational School" as of 26.02.2018 with the letter of the Council of Higher Education Board (YÖK) dated 26.02.2018 and numbered 15619. The Law No. 7033 on the Amendment of Certain Laws and Decrees for the Development of Industry and Support of Production came into force in July 2017. The law states that “Educational support can be provided to relevant higher education institutions from the appropriation allocated to the Higher Education Council's budget for this purpose for each student studying at vocational schools established in organized industrial zones”. Within the framework of this provision, starting from the 2017 - 2018 Academic Year Spring Semester, the students of the Machinery, Electricity, Textile Technology and Electronic Technology Programs in our School have started to receive educational support. In the Machinery Program, 3+1 Workplace Training (practical training in the industry organizations) has been started since 2018-2019 Spring semester. Machinery Program of Machinery and Metal Technologies Department continues formal education.

The machinery industry, which makes a significant contribution to Turkey's industrial development, employment opportunities and trade, has become one of the most important industrial branches of our country thanks to its technological innovation, technical knowledge and experience. It works intertwined with foreign industry in its open structure. Machines manufactured in Turkey are used in the leading countries of the globalizing world. Machinery program; has the knowledge of assembly and maintenance of heating and cooling systems, measurement, quality and control, which performs machinery manufacturing, assembly, maintenance and repair for many industrial branches such as Construction, Electronics, Chemistry, Textile, Agriculture, as well as computer-aided design and Occupational health and safety courses and intermediate staff who follow technology and apply occupational safety measures are trained.

Goals

Purpose of Machinery Program; having strong basic knowledge in line with the expectations of the industrialist, having learned access to information, following scientific innovations and research, taking an active role in innovation and development processes in the field of machinery, researcher, having an analytical mindset, able to synthesize, comprehend professional ethics, communicate easily with his environment, be responsible Technicians are hardworking, effective, questioning, solution-oriented, complying with occupational health and safety rules and having high ethical values. The vocational courses taught in the machine program are carried out by the current permanent instructors.

Objectives

The aim of the program is to provide an education infrastructure that is based on the culture and values ​​of universal science and contemporary education in the field of machinery, to follow the technological developments and to provide an education infrastructure that is suitable for the needs of the age, and to strengthen our education and training activities with the participation of our stakeholders, to implement innovations, to produce solutions to the problems of society, to provide a leading education at national and international level. and thus the training of Mechanical Technicians with high qualifications.

Specific Admission Requirements

Students are admitted to the Machinery Program with the central examination conducted by the Measurement Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). Students are admitted to the program with the TYT score type and in our program 2-year associate degree education is given. In order for students to be placed in the Machinery Program, TYT exam score must be calculated as a result of the Higher Education Institutions Exam. Students whose TYT score has been calculated are placed in the program according to their choice with the Central Placement made by OSYM, according to their success ranking.

Qualification Requirements of Graduation

Machinery and Metal Technology is a graduate of the program Mechanical Technician title to take students to obtain a degree associate degree must take the compulsory and elective courses (total 120 ETCS) all successfully complete 30 working days based industries to complete the teaching work and the 4.00 overall grade point averageIt must be less than 2.0. In addition, students must successfully complete their 30-day professional internship and one-semester Workplace Training. The graduate student is awarded an associate degree in the field of Machinery. With this graduation certificate to be obtained, one can work in the industry with the title of Mechanical Technician. When the student graduates, the courses showing the competencies gained during the education period are indicated in the diploma supplement.

Access to Further Studies

Graduated students can be admitted to Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering and Materials Engineering undergraduate programs with an exam (DGS). In addition, they can enroll in business and economics undergraduate programs of Open Education Faculties without an exam.

Internship

Internship is a practical and applied education in the relevant sector. In AOSB Vocational School of Technical Sciences programs, internship is included in the lesson plan as an Industry Based Education course. Internships will be held on the dates announced by AOSB Technical Sciences Vocational School Directorate, and the duration of the internship cannot be less than 30 working days depending on the nature of the program. It is appropriate to do the internship during the summer break at the end of the first year. Otherwise, the student may graduate late. The aims of the industry-based education studies of the Machinery Program students are as follows; - To develop and reinforce the professional knowledge given in accordance with the first and second year curriculum through the practices during the internship. - To know the organization, order and systems in the possible business areas where they will work after starting the business life. - To recognize the authorities and responsibilities they will undertake as a Mechanical Technician in the enterprises, to gain harmonious working habits with the personnel in charge of the upper and lower levels, to be a good manager, and also to prepare a good employment opportunities

Work Placement

Our school has started to implement the 3+1 Workplace Training Program as of the 2018-2019 Spring semester. Within the scope of 3+1 Workplace Training Program, students work in a industry establishment four days a week for one term (15 weeks). The purpose of workplace training is as follows; - To recognise the workplaces hierarchical order, organizational structure, work discipline, occupational health and safety rules related to the associate degree program - To practice in order to reinforce the knowledge, skills and competencies gained during their education, to closely observe the work of the sector employees, to increase their business experience. - To gain the ability to use and apply the theoretical knowledge they have received. - To enable them to develop a common language with workplace managers, employees and other relevant individuals, to increase their workplace communication skills. - To ensure that they are aware of the latest technology related to their profession and to teach them to be respectful to professional ethics.

Double Major, Additional Major & Exchange Possibilities

Machinery Program students; In accordance with the agreements and protocols made between other higher education institutions abroad or in the country, one or two semesters can be studied in other relevant higher education institutions. These students are required to have succeeded in all previous learning activities. Courses, practices, internships and similar activities that students will continue in these higher education institutions; The equivalence of the student to the courses, practices, internships and similar activities in his/her own curriculum is determined in advance by the decision of the administrative board regarding the recommendation of the advisor and the relevant department chair/program advisor. Exchange Programs differ in terms of their purpose and functioning.

Employment Opportunities

The Machinery Program curriculum is largely geared towards training qualified personnel for the Machinery Manufacturing and Machinery Maintenance sector. Professional competencies and personal development trainings gained in the program provide wide opportunities for career development in business life. Graduates can work in the manufacturing, maintenance-repair and quality control departments of factories operating in the public sector and industry to meet the need for intermediate staff (technician) between engineers and technicians. According to the structure of the institution they work for and their field of expertise, they can perform all kinds of manufacturing, service and organization works. Technicians can also open their own private workplaces if they wish.
