General Information

Industrial Engineering program is a 4 year undergraduate level engineering program. This program has been accepting students since 1992. Students receive both theoretical and applied education with a multidisciplinary approach. Two 30-day summer internships are done by the students in public and/or private firms as a part of degree requirements.

Feature & Definition

This program aims to educate engineers whose primary purpose is to improve productivity, quality and competitiveness in all organizations producing service and/or goods. This program envisions a profile of industrial engineers whose main features are analytical thinking, emphasis on individual and professional development, systems approach, team work, ability to take initiatives in problem solving and being vision minded. In this program, education is based on a multidisciplinary, research and project oriented approach.

Goals

Our graduates are professional in national and international institutions and organizations: 1. Examines the complex problems encountered in the production and service sectors with a system approach, takes part in a team, leads, manages projects, makes financial and financial analysis and creates a strategic plan, can take on the tasks of design, planning and management. 2. Participate in scientific research, academic and graduate studies, workshops, training and certification programs and independent studies can continue to develop professionally. 3. Can establish production or service enterprises with the awareness of R & D and innovation and contribute to industrial development by creating new business areas. 4. With the awareness of continuous improvement, adopts lifelong learning as a principle, and can continue professional and personal development by following current and contemporary issues. 5. Can contribute to self-confident and multi-disciplinary teams who are aware of professional ethics, environmental sustainability and social responsibility, have gained effective communication skills.

Objectives

The objectives of the Department of Industrial Engineering are to provide high quality Industrial Engineering education by considering analytical thinking, applying digital decision making techniques, attaching importance to professional and individual development, adopting system approach, being able to team work, solving problems by using initiative and having vision and having an industrial engineer profile, taking into account the expectations of stakeholders at Bachelor and Graduate levels, It is defined as contributing to the science of industrial engineering by carrying out scientific studies.

Specific Admission Requirements

Placement through a centralized national university placement examination (ÖSYS). Student Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM) is responsible to place students according to their ÖSYS scores.

Qualification Requirements of Graduation

A bachelor's degree is awarded to students who complete their four-year education. In order for the students to complete the program successfully, they must take at least 240 ECTS credits, 9 ECTS credits are non-field electives, 52 ECTS credits must be field electives and the overall grade point average must be at least 2.00. For students who have started their education since 2018, there is an obligation to do a summer internship consisting of thirty working days. In his Industrial Engineering undergraduate diploma, “[AD/SOYAD] has successfully completed the Industrial Engineering program of the Faculty of Engineering on …./…./…….. He has been entitled to receive the title of Industrial Engineer and to use all the powers given to him by law.” statement is included. Students are given a transcript and diploma supplement showing their success in the courses they have taken.

Access to Further Studies

The program graduates are eligible to apply for admission to graduate studies in industrial engineering or related area if they pass the evaluation process designated by the corresponding institution.

Work Placement

In the Practical Education in Industrial Engineering course, In 8th semester, all students are expected to go through an internship program in a firm approved by the department under the supervision of an academic advisor and a mentor assigned by the firm throughout 8th semester 5 working days in a week in order to gain experience applying their theoretical knowledge and skills in a manufacturing and/or service environment.

Employment Opportunities

Engineers graduating from this program receive a multidisciplinary curriculum. Graduates may pursue a career in all public and private sector firms. Industrial engineers work in production planning, quality management, process improvement, information systems, human resources, supply chain management etc. fields. Also, a significant number of industrial engineers prefer working in consulting, academia, research and development institutions.
