General Information

The graduates of Computer Education and Instructional Technologies Department are entitled as Computer Teacher and Instructional Technologist. Beside these two professions, the graduates are also employed as Software Designer and Software Developer on account of the computer education in the program. The bachelor program has two main purposes; the first purpose is to train computer teachers who obtained the basic professional knowledge and skills to be employed in elementary and secondary schools. The second main purpose is to train Computer Aided Education specialists who are proficient in designing, developing, applying and evaluating instructional materials and educational software that are compatible with pedagogical level of the learners and the curriculum. Theoretical and Applied courses related to the field are presented at Çukurova University, Faculty of Education, Computer Education and Instructional Technologies Department. Besides, in the scope of the courses titled "school experience" and "practice teaching", the students undergo internship in elementary and secondary schools. Çukurova University, Faculty of Education, Computer Education and Instructional Technologies Department, which had its first graduates in 2003, has been training numerous qualified teachers and technologists who were employed in private and public sector.

Feature & Definition

C.U. There are 3 computer labs available to students in the Department of Computer Education and Instructional Technologies. Students of the department can work with their advisors for their projects in these laboratories. As a result of these studies, students participated in project competitions and obtained various degrees in the CEIT student congress held every year.

Goals

The aim of the Computer Education and Instructional Technology bachelor program is to acquire the knowledge, skills and attitudes that will provide our alumni an pedagogic and occupational computer education in accordance with scientific criteria. It also enables them to design and develop learning environments using online and offline information technology.

Objectives

Our goal is as a Computer Education and Instructional Technology bachelor program to train graduates preferred in national and international areas; contribute to social life through our alumni and scientific studies.

Specific Admission Requirements

Placement through a centralized national university placement examination (ÖSYS). Student Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM) is responsible to place students according to their ÖSYS scores.

Qualification Requirements of Graduation

To be successful in this program, students are required to successfully complete all the courses to meet a minimum of 240 ECTS credit requirement and have a minimum of GPA of 2.00/4.00. 

Access to Further Studies

The graduates of this program are eligible to apply for admission to graduate studies in same field or related areas if they pass the evaluation process designated according to the regulations of “Çukurova University Graduate Education and Examination Committee”, which includes ALES, general point of average, and the interview.

Internship

Students enrolled in the program can do internship in private institutions during the optional summer period.

Applied Course

Students gain experience in the teaching profession by participating in teaching practice (I and II) courses in practice schools.

Work Placement

Students enrolled in the program can perform work-based learning in the seventh and eighth semesters with teaching practice and school experience courses in public schools.

Double Major, Additional Major & Exchange Possibilities

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning : In Turkish Higher Education Institutions, the acknowledgment of the Bachelor´s diploma for a university is organized with the regulations related to double majors and subspeciality and the transition between Associate Degree programs and undergraduate program. This regulation also allows credit transfer between related institutions.

Employment Opportunities

The graduates of Computer Education and Instructional Technologies Department can work as computer teachers in educational institutions and also can work in many fields both in private and public sector such as software design, software development, instructional technologies etc.
