Course Goal / Objective

To inform students about waves and optics with the basic concepts and principles of physics

Course Content

Wave motion, waves in one dimension, Interposition, interference, reflection and transmission, sinusoidal waves, Sound waves, spherical and Plane Waves, Doppler effect, Shock Waves Standing waves, resonance, Beats, Non-Sinusoidal Wave Patterns, The nature of light, reflection and refraction, Huygens´ principle, Geometrical optics, images created in the mirrors, The images formed by refraction in lenses, Optical Instruments, Interference of Light Waves, Interference in thin films, Diffraction of light waves, Polarization of Light Waves
