Course Goal / Objective
Field Geology l aims to prepare students for the Field. Field Geology I course is given in the class during the fall term. In this course, all theoretical field related general subjects are given to the students. To teach the structures and properties of the rocks; to gain the interpretation ability by using the structural elements from the prepared geological maps.
Course Content
Basic concepts in field geology, required investigation for detailed field study and use of necessary field equipments. Reading and using the topographical maps and definitions of a particular location in grid areas. Collecting hand specimens, Geological mapping types, "V" rule, preparation of geological cross sections, rock classifications, measurements of stratigraphical sections, symbolic appearances and measurements of planar and linear structures and their interpretations. Interpreting the geological events on maps. Describe the important geological structures. Geological compass applications.
