Course Goal / Objective

Introducing and discussing the field of psychology, its different fields and approaches, history, psychological theories and concepts to enable participant student to know, explore, evaluate, compare the psychological issues in their professional and daily lives and building a foundation to utilize psychological facts to solve the problems they encounter.

Course Content

Definition and description of psychology, history of psychology, fields of psychology (social psychology, clinical psychology, educational and learning psychology etc.), psychological theories (behaviorism, cognitive theories, existentialism, humanistic theories, etc.), biological foundations of psychology, intelligence and its theories, sensation and perception, memory, personality and personality theories, abnormal psychology, motivation, defense mechanisms.
