Course Goal / Objective

Aim of this course is to have students apply and use attitudes, knowledge and skills gained from Principles and Techniques of Group Counseling and experience a real group counseling process. In addition the canditates are expected to observe group process and group management as a member of group.

Course Content

In this course, students are asked to be a members of a real group. Students are expected to use their helping skills for both their own and the others' personal and professional development. - Application of basic group counseling skills. - Reviewing basic group counseling techniques.

Week Topic Preparation Methods
1 Explaining th content of the course. Arrangement of assignments and projects. Reading: Carroll, M.R., Wiggins, J.D. (2008). (In three weeks).
2 Applicatons of basic group counseling skills. - Reviewing basic group counseling techniques. - Expressing the type of the group to be held ( Encounter Groups.) Reading: Carroll, M.R., Wiggins, J.D. (2008). (In three weeks).
3 Inititating group process ( about 12 sessions) by the group leader. Session 1: Get ıntroduced with group members. Introduction of the group and its purposes. Reading group techniques and ıntervention strategies. After each session, student will write their experience related to the sessions they attend .
4 Session 2 Reading group techniques and ıntervention strategies. After each session, student will write their experience related to the sessions they attend .
5 Session 3 Reading group techniques and ıntervention strategies. After each session, student will write their experience related to the sessions they attend .
6 Session 4 Reading group techniques and ıntervention strategies. After each session, student will write their experience related to the sessions they attend .
