Course Goal / Objective

In this course, the definition of archaeology, the stages of development in its becoming a field of science, the history of excavations and research, the formation of chronology, side branches and sub-branches of archaeology and the history of their formation will be taught. Also, in this course, Near Eastern archaeology will be outlined and the early stages of the development of Anatolia, which is the cradle of the most ancient civilizations, will be outlined.

Course Content

The definition of archaeology, archaeological terms and concepts, archaeological recording methods, the use of archaeological materials and equipment, excavation techniques and survey methods, theoretical and field applications.
