Course Goal / Objective

Aims to look at selected aspects of Roman Art; its aims and methods, its social and ideological background.

Course Content

Roman period will be generally looked over, and then, in Roman arts, relief remains belonging to republic and post-republic period will be investigated. Mainly, relief, statue, and portrait will be evaluated. In parallel, state relief and iconographic characteristic built for the purpose of state propaganda will be emphasized to learn the political history of Roman empire.
