Course Goal / Objective

Aim of this course is to have students apply and use attitudes, knowledge and skills gained from RPD 309 Principles and Techniques of Individual Counseling and RPD 308 Principle and Techniques of Group Counseling and experience a real group counseling process. İn addition the canditates are expected to observe group process and group management as a member of group.

Course Content

In this course, after the information about group counseling gained in lesson RPD 308 is generally reviewed, students are asked to be a members of a real group. Students are expected to use their helping skills for both their own and the others personal and professional development. The content of this course covers these topics: General revision RPD 308 Principles and Techniques of Individual Counseling. Application of basic group counseling skills. Reviewing basic group counseling techniques. Expressing type of the group to be held (Give information about Encounter Groups). Inititating group process (about 12 sessions) by the group leader. Session 1: Get ıntroduced with group members. Introduction of the group and the purposes of group. Session 2: Reviewing of the previous sesssion. Facilitating the group communication. Group functioning. Terminating the session. Session 12: Evaluation of the group process. Members evaluation of their own group experience, levels of group participation and what they acquired from the group. Leaders evaluation of group process and group members.
