Course Goal / Objective

This course aims to provide students with the skills and methods for modeling, design, control and simulation of computer integrated automation systems such as Flexible Manufacturing Systems.

Course Content

Computer integrated manufacturing and automation, computer-aided design and manufacturing, numeric control, robots, flexible manufacturing systems, CAD/CAM, systems design issues, simulation applications

LO02 Discuss the need for integration and flexibility in manufacturing
LO03 Understand basic technological aspects of additive manufacturing, robotics, automated guided vehicles (AGV), RFID and communication networks
LO04 Develop a simulation model to evaluate and compare various design alternatives and decide on a final design for an CIM and its operational control policies
