Course Goal / Objective
This course aims to make consideration and concern for building openings as the components of doors, windows and facade systems by detail design and installation processes.
Course Content
Openings:Doors: Introduction to Basic Principles- Door in Plan and Section, Organizing Doors in Interiors, Door Types By Operation and By Design, Basic Elements of a Doorway: Door Frame, Door, Door Hardware, Marking Dimensions of Door, Wall and Frame Relation, Installation of Wood Door Frames,Frame and Wall Connections, Wood Door Installations, Hollow Metal Doors and Frame Installations, Sliding Glass Doors, Folding and Pocket Sliding Doors, Garage and Overhead Doors, Glass Entrance Doors, Storefront Entrance and Revolving Doors, Door Hardware: Hinges, Locksets, Door Panic Hardware and Closers, Windows: Introduction to Basic Principles- Windows in Plan and Section, Organizing Windows on Facades and Interiors, Windown Types by Operation, Wood Window Elements, Frame Types and Required Dimensions, Sash and Glazing, Wall and Frame Relations, Sill and Window Board Installations, Metal Windows, P.V.C. Windows: Porfiles Formation Principles of Glazing and Frame, Shutters, Louvres and Rollers, Curtain Walls.
