Course Goal / Objective

To reveal cause-effect relationships of interactions between people and landscape and environmental risks by interventions; To compare the effects sustainable use of landscapes created/to be created by analyzing numerical methods and evaluate them in terms of planning decisions; To introduce students the basic concepts and sample applications of coastal zone management practices within the framework of landscape management

Course Content

Identifying interactions and relationships between man and landscape which cause environmental deteriorations and risks; Modern traditional and modern tools and methods used determine, prevent and reduce the effects of these risks and deteriorations; Relations between degradations in resources, potential risks, and sectoral user requirements and analysis of these interrelations. Physical characteristics of the coastal landscapes, coastal ecosystem Requirement of the use and protection of the coasts Contradictions at national and regional scale in terms of coastal protection techniques and tools in coastal management Management planning Case studies
