Course Goal / Objective
This course aims to introduce the scientific, appropriate and rational use of soils, soil management and practices required to conserve and develop the lands.
Course Content
Soil management, Soil as an element of soil management and a general overview of the soils of Turkey. Relationships between adhesion and cohesion in soil, soil tilth and soil consistency, soil tillage and factors influencing the choose of soil tillage systems. Conservational and conventional tillage systems in sustainable soil management and their fundamentals. Preparation of seedbed; Cultivation; Soil compaction problems in soil tillage and solution methods; Soil exhaustion and reasons; Sustainable and conventional agricultural systems, Losses of soil water and regulation methods, Fallow applications in arid and semi-arid regions, Precision agriculture and principles of application, soil erosion and erosion control methods.
