Course Goal / Objective
Understands the definition and importance of the drying process. Understands the basic concepts of drying and storage of crop products, product drying techniques, advantages and disadvantages. It learns how to carry out the drying processes carried out in order to consume agricultural products out of season and to protect the food contents and deliver them to consumers. He knows the auxiliary tools and equipment used during the drying process and learns how to use them. Learn the theorems and calculations related to drying and experience at the laboratory scale.
Course Content
Definition of drying process and the conditions to be considered during drying process, Types of Dryer and Drying Methods, Auxiliary Equipment, Psychometric Diagram and its usage, Microwave Drying with Energy, Drying with Infrared Radiation, Drying with Freezing, Drying with Solar Energy (in natural environment and indoor environment), Conventional Drying with Hot Air, Storage conditions in some products with dried and market share
