Course Goal / Objective

To provide students with knowledge and competence abouth basic characteristics of microorganisms, microorganism-host relationships and immunity system, antimicrobial drugs and resistance mechanisms.

Course Content

Includes the topics related to basic microbiology addressing microorganisms - antimicrobial drugs - host relationships.

LO02 Recognize different culture media used in the production of microorganisms.
LO03 Prepares the fixated slide for staining by using fresh bacterial culture.
LO04 Interprets appropriate staining techniques for microscopic examination of microorganisms.
LO05 Explains the biochemical changes of microorganisms in different culture environments.
LO06 Explains antimicrobial susceptibility tests.
LO07 Interprets serological tests commonly used in the microbiology laboratory.
