Course Goal / Objective

To inform about biologic effects of x-rays, radiation safety and protection methods, basic principals of intraoral and extraoral imaging projections in dentistry, principals of radiographic interpretation, to introduce radiographic characteristics of anatomic structures and pathologies

Course Content

Radiation physics, biologic effects of radiation, radiation safety and protection, imaging principles and techniques, radiographic interpretation of pathology

LO01 Explains the production of X-ray and characteristics of X-ray.
LO02 Describes biological effects of x-rays and radiation protection methods.
LO03 Decides appropriate radiographic method depending on clinical requirements, describes radiographic technique and image processing.
LO04 Recognizes radiographic anatomic structures, and interprets pathological images.
LO05 Recognizes orofacial lesions that are caused by local and/or systemic disorders and assess the relationship between the lesion and the patient complaint.
