Course Goal / Objective
Giving the knowledge of basic navigation and use of marine maps.
Course Content
Definition and history of navigation, navigation tools and methods development. Location of the sphere shape, the latitudes and longitudes, latitude and longitude differences. Map projections. Features of the maps used in the course of the sea, a small drawing of the Mercator map, the other projection methods in comparison with the Mercator projection, map catalogs and the use of map catalog, the use of symbols in the book and Abbreviations, and use of notices to mariners, chart corrections, the concept of distance and direction in the sea, publications used in ship navigation and features, lighthouses and fog signals, characters and classification of lighthouses, use of lighthouse books, using the distances appear lighthouses or lighthouses abbreviations, fog signals, international buoyage systems, introduction of the system A and system B, the map representation of the lateral and cardinal marks.
