Course Goal / Objective
To introduce the basic concepts of fluid mechanics. To define the basic equations of fluid mechanics, to formulate and to gain the ability to solve problems.
Course Content
General concepts of fluids. Standing fluids. Bernoulli equation and applications. Mass, momentum and energy conservation equations for system and control volume. Navier-Stokes equations. Dimensional analysis and similarity. Flow through pipes and ducts. Laminate and turbulent boundary layer. Pipe friction and earth charge losses. Flow and pressure measurements.
