Course Goal / Objective

First aid interventions related to heart attack, epilepsy, diabetic emergencies, allergic reactions, shock, CPR, bleeding, choking, poisoning, burns, effects of heat and cold, bites and stings, cuts, bone and joint injuries, spinal injuries, head injuries, and fractures

Course Content

Student will be able to list types of injuries and describe principles of first aid in injuries.Student will be able to describe functions and importance of respiratory and circulation system.Student will be able to explain and understand interventions to maintain/ start respiration.Student will be able to implement cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).Student will be able to describe principles of first aid in syncope.Student will be able to describe problems arising from bleeding and explain importance of bleeding control techniques.Student will be able to understand signs and symptoms of shock and define principles of first aid in shock.Student will be able to understand principles of first aid in types of poisoning.
