Course Goal / Objective

The aim of this course is to provide ability of material selection and examination of materials.

Course Content

Phase diagrams, Cemented Iron Phase Diagram, Annealing, hardening and tempering, Surface hardening processes, Deformation of materials, Metallographic examination methods, Destructive material inspection methods, Non-destructive material inspection methods

LO01 Determine how the phazes which constituting material occurs and transforms.
LO02 Read and interpret the iron-cemented phase diagram
LO03 Heats the material to the desired temperature and selects the appropriate quenching media
LO04 Compare the elastic and plastic deformation characteristic of materials.
LO05 Knows the heat treatments applied to steel, decides on what temperature can be processed
LO06 To be able to apply destructive examination methods and compare the results
LO07 Apply non-destructive testing methods and compare the results
LO08 Recognize and use the necessary modern methods and tools in the field of machine, metallurgy and materials engineering.
LO09 Measures for different workpieces, reviews the results, revises and corrects the manufacturing method if necessary
LO10 Designs, finalizes, evaluates, compares and applies the most appropriate method to ensure quality control before and after the manufacturing phase and to increase the efficiency.
