Course Goal / Objective

The aims of this lecture are to explain the relationships between microorganisms presence in soil medium and the environment; to introduce the importance of microorganisms in terms of soil fertility, plant nutrition and nutrient cycle and biochemical reactions which are runnig spontaneously during these activities

Course Content

Soil as microbial habitat, microbial populations in soils and their determination methods, nutrition types of soil microorganisms and energy acquriring, enzymes and their roles in soils, interactions bethween microorganisms, C-cycle, degradation of starch and cellulose, nitrification, ammonification, denitrification, microbial N2-fixation, rhizobial biofertilizer production, rhizobial inoculation, microorganisms and pesticides relations, P-cycle and S-cycle
