Course Goal / Objective

To teach the concept of the soil forming upper part of the Earth crust and including life in it; To provide students with the knowledge about soil formation, soil parent material, composition and properties of soil, weathering, texture, clay minerals, oxides and hydroxides; To have students gain knowledge about soil organic matter, soil organisms, cation exchange and adsorption, anion adsorption, soil acidity, coagulation and peptisation, soil structure, soil water, soil temperature, soil color, soil, air and nutrients in the soil

Course Content

Examining specific events by which a rock makes up the soil under certain climatic conditions and under the vegetation leaving residues, decomposition, mineral formation and fragmentation, explaining how soil is formed at the end of the events of huminification, structural formation and accumulation undergoing changes and the continuity of this constant change as well as the interaction of properties of the soil in question in providing plant nutrients.
