Course Goal / Objective

to gain students theoretical vision in order to establish solutions to questions of law due to either soil property system or the issues between the people dealing with farming in rural areas; to provide information about legislation of land which is the main element of production, ranch, water sources, environment forests, and workers.

Course Content

Law and general information on agricultural law; historical development of land law (Ottoman period between 16th and 19th centuries and republican period); civil law in terms of agricultural law (real rights, movable and immovable goods, possession; official title registers, concept of ownership; rules for gaining and losing property rights); law of obligations in agricultural law (produce and basic rent, rules for renting and sharecropping); Expropriation and land distribution in the context of major reform surveys (legal regulations on farmers choice, land size, cost of transfer); land consolidation; regulations to prevent use of agricultural lands for non agricultural purposes, pasture laws, water laws; agricultural workers and their work conditions
