Course Goal / Objective

To understand the activities, aims, ideologies and places of democracy in the history of the development of Turkish Democracy and the Political Parties established in the Turkish History by the students taking the courses in academic measures. To bring a positive, pluralistic, behavioral change in the political thoughts and behaviors of the students who take the course, and to think about the future of the country and its people.

History of the Development of Turkish Democracy and the activities of the Political Parties established in Turkish history, their aims, ideologies and places in the history of democracy. Stages of Democracy in Ottoman and Turkish Periods and Activities of Political Parties.

LO01 Learns the forms of government developed and applied in the historical process (such as Monarchy, Oligarchy, Theocracy, Constitutional Monarchy) and the basic differences between these forms of government and Democracy.
LO02 Learns the Concept of Democracy, the processes of the development of democracy at the universally accepted dimensions in the historical process.
LO03 Learns and knows the freedoms, awareness and fundamental rights that the democratic management style brings to the lives of individuals and societies.
LO04 Gains knowledge and explains the historical roots of Turkish Democracy and the first application areas of the implementation processes of Turkish Democracy.
LO05 Learns the democracy movements that started in the Ottoman political history and the social layers that adopted them. Knows the developments and people who contributed to the formation of democracy in the Ottoman Empire.
LO06 Learns and explains pre-Republican Democratic mass organizations, political parties and events that strengthen or weaken democracy.
LO07 Learns the Democratic movements that took place in the Atatürk Period (1918 - 1938) and the political developments related to the development of democracy (National Associations, Congresses, Opening of the National Assembly, Proclamation of the Republic, established political parties, etc.) in historical order.
LO08 Gains knowledge about the establishment, ideology, structure and practices of important political parties that have a say in the country's administration until today.
LO09 It learns the interim regimes, periods of intervention to democracy, military coups, anti-democratic developments (such as the military interventions of 1960, 1971, 1980, 2016) after the transition to multi-party political life in Turkey (after 1945) in chronological order.

6 II. During the Constitutional Period (1908 - 1918), the Ottoman Monarchy lost power; The end of the State.. 12 The period of pluralistic democracy in Turkey (1960 - 1980), 27 May 1960 .. democracy military intervention and its consequences; The provision of individual and organizational rights through the new constitution, the active political parties of the time, the CHP, AP (the Justice Party) and other parties. 13 Domestic political developments in the country, the tense political environment created by the different political movements in parliament and streets, the actions taken by the extremist right and left organizations using the method of armed struggle, their effects on political parties and their actions. 14 Democracy in Turkey Re-military intervention and its consequences (military coup of September 12, 1980); Conditions that prepare the ground for military intervention, New Constitution and new political parties, Motherland party powers, other parties, restraint and consequences of individual and organizational rights. 15 Developments in the World and Turkey after the Cold War (1991 - 2001); The changing and developing socio - economic and technological conditions in the world and in Turkey and the changes that this created in the individual and society.
