Course Goal / Objective

The aim of this course is to provide information about the techniques applied during all breeding stages including the postlarva and nursery stages starting from the broodstock stage as well as the establishment and operation of shrimp hatcheries.

Course Content

Hatchery infrastructure, site selection, maintenance of production units, water treatment and wastewater discharge systems, improvement of the quality of wastewater, prevention of diseases, use of chemicals, Supply of broodstock, broodstock quality and improved broodstock (SPF), maturation process, egg laying, disinfection of egg / naupli larvae, larval culture techniques, water exchange protocols, water quality, larval feeding and feeds, antibiotic and probiotic use, larval quality criteria, post-larvae selection and transport, post-larval stocking, nursery, documentation and record keeping
