Course Goal / Objective

The aim of this course is to teach students acute and chronic toxicity test in model animals, metabolism of toxic substences, effects of toxic substencens on biochemical processes, the biochemical and molecular markers used in toxicological studies, teratogenesis, genotoxicity and carcinogenesis, biochemical and molecular markers used in toxicity studies

Course Content

Introduction to biochemical toxicology in model animals, Dose-response relationships, Absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion of toxic compounds, Factors affecting metabolism toxic compunds, Toxic response to foreign compounds, Teratogenesis, Genotoxicity and chemical carcinogenesis, Hepatotoxicity, Kidney damage, Lung damage, Neurotoxicity. Biochemical and molecular markers in toxicity Toxicogenomics, toxicoproteomics, toxicometabolomics
