Course Goal / Objective

Gaining conscioness about the importance of culture, communication and intercultural communication, Acquiring awareness about cultural differences by increasing theoretical knowledge.To enable students to discuss how to analyze the situation of intercultural communication and to acquire the knowledge in this regard and to gain skills to acquire communicative competence.

Course Content

The concepts of culture, communication and intercultural communication. The problems which interested by intercultural communication. Intercultural communication approaches. Cultural differences and the importance of cultural differences in communication. Attidutes and behaviours which obstructes to intercultural communication. Development of intercultural communication competence.

LO01 Explains the basic concepts of the field of intercultural communication within the framework of cultural and communicative studies.
LO02 Recognizes the basic concepts, theories and principles about intercultural communication problems .
LO03 Updates his/her knowledge about intercultural communication by following the studies on this field.
LO04 Produces thoughts and knowledge to understand and solve communication problems from interpersonel, inter groups and intercultural communication problems.
LO05 Develops a sense of responsibility to the humanity, develops intercultural projects for the benefit of the humanity.

LO07 Raises consciouness which features are necessary for intercultural competence by acquiring knowledge of attitudes and behaviors that impede intercultural communication with causes and consequences of this attidutes and behaviors.
LO08 Approaches to the concept of communication with an over-cultural (anthropological) and intercultural perspective. Can synthesize the knowledge from psychology, sociology, social psychology, and cultural anthropology with intercultural communication with
