Course Goal / Objective

This course examines the complex relationship between language, interaction and learning with a view to improving language teachers' professional practice. The objectives of the course is to focus on the main features of classroom discourse and analyse how it is typically structured; look at the relevance of classroom discourse to teaching and learning; evaluate different approaches to studying classroom discourse; focus on the concept of classroom interactional competence.
