Course Goal / Objective

The objective of the course is to be able to enable students to focus on differences of two languages: English that they have been learning as a foreign language and Turkish, their native language. Learners should become aware of the structural similarities and dissimilarities between European languages and Ural Alta languages. Nowadays, the Ministry of Education considers that Turkish language courses as a foreign language should be given to the university students as selective courses in order to make them as would-be-English teachers to teach Turkish as a foreign language

Course Content

Teachers cognize the importance of teaching Turkish as a foreign language. Teachers become aware of how to teach Turkish fluently and appropriately to the target learners. Teachers utilize the methods regarding the learners coming from different cultural backgrounds. Teachers teach the target language regarding the communication in either way, daily conversation or academic purposes. Teachers utilize and assess the course materials according to the standards given in CEFR. Teachers have insights to change the parts of materials or course books. Teachers cognize how to and where to insert the necessary items related to cultural diversity and richness. Teachers comprehend how to make Turkish lessons in enjoyable and long-lasting manner.
